Is 2 bundles and a closure enough? Is 3 bundles enough for a full sew in?

Choosing the correct length and quantity of bundles are very important to achieve your desired hairstyle. It’s very frustrating to order or purchase hair and find out you don’t have the correct amount or length. Let us help you to not make that mistake. Keep reading!

How many bundles do I need for a full head with closure, frontal, 360 frontal or with leave out?

The number one question that our clients ask is, “How many bundles do I need for a full sew in?”

The type of hair affects how many bundles you need to achieve your desired hairstyle. Straight hair is usually less dense than curly hair, so you’ll need more bundles for a fuller look.

Be sure to consider the length you want as well. As a general rule the longer the length of your hair extensions the more bundles you will need because bundles of less hair contain a shorter weft, also known as the track.

Three bundles for a full sew-in typically the magic number.

With three bundles anywhere from 14″ — 20″ your weave will be full, flowy, and glamorous. Anything less, 2 bundles would be perfect. If your sew-in is starting with lengths over 22″ you might want to consider four bundles to five bundles.

What is a closure?

A closure is a section of lace, filled with hair, used to “close off” a sew-in, or a wig.

Measurements of a lace closure is typically 4x4. Lace closures are also, in my opinion, very low-maintenance compared to a frontal, 360 frontal.

Lace closures can be sewed or glued into place. Closures can be purchased as a three part, middle part, or free part.

  • Free Part Closure — this closure have the ability to be parted however desired,
  • Middle Part Closure — this closure is the most popular closure. It has a pre-plucked middle part within the closure.
  • Three Part Closure — this closure has three pre-plucked parts that is mostly used to create the “2 braid/twist” at the front of your head.

Lace closures come in many different textures and lengths to match your extensions.

A skilled stylist can make a lace closure look very natural, regardless of the length and texture.

Typically 3–5 bundles are used to achieve a full sewin.

What is a frontal?

A frontal is a hair finishing piece, for a full head of weave.

You will not have to leave out any of your own hair with a frontal hair closure.

This 13" by 4" lace piece covers the front section of the head from ear to ear.

The lace is placed against the edge of the hairline giving you the look of natural growth from the root.

Typically 2–4 bundles are needed for a full head sewin with a lace frontal.

What is a 360 frontal?

A 360 Lace Frontal is a hairpiece that recreates the hairline around the entire perimeter of your head so that you can wear ponytails etc with you sew in.

This isn’t a wig but can be used to make a wig or for a hair weave you just add the bundles to the middle. It goes around the whole head so you can put it in a ponytail, and part anywhere too.

Typically with a 360 frontal only 2–3 bundles of extensions are needed.
